24 Hours in Times Square

As a New Yorker who works in the City but lives in New Jersey, Times Square is the last place I thought I would spend my Saturday night. I’m not a huge fan of the traffic and crowds but I must say this was the best 24 hours spent in the cross roads of the world! To celebrate my husbands birthday, I booked a hotel room in the center of Times Square. Check out where we stayed and what we did during our quick stay.

Finding a hotel in Times Square isn’t hard. However, it was important for me to book a hotel with views of Times Square on a high floor, larger room, rooftop, good reviews, and most importantly clean. As I mentioned in my previous post, I keep a bucket list of places to visit and it was a tie between Hyatt Centric and The Edition Times Square. I ended up choosing the Hyatt Centric and was pleased with our stay.

The Hyatt Centric, is located in the center of Times Square and just a 5 minute walk to the bright lights, billboards, and restaurants. Valet parking is available for $80 for 24 hours. Just pull to the front of the hotel and the valet guy takes your vehicle to an off site lot. Upon checking in and walking into our 1 King High Floor room# 5307, the views were amazing but the room was too small so we upgraded to a suite for a less than $200. Our new 1 King Bed Suite was located on the 22nd floor room 2201 with better views of Times Square. If you stay in the rooms with the higher numbers chances are you will have direct views of the center of Times Square to see the News Years ball! There’s a bar located in the lobby but we came for a view and instead opted to check out the rooftop bar, Bar 54.

The Bar 54 rooftop is located on the 54th floor and the views were breath taking! You have the option of sitting outside but during the fall it can be a little chilly and I didn’t see any heat lamps. Once we took enough photos of the views we moved indoors for a few drinks before heading to dinner at the R Lounge located in the R Renaissance.

R Lounge is a restaurant located in the R Renaissance hotel. It has the best views of Times Square! Even so that the table where we sat goes for $20K on New Years Eve! After some light apps and a bottle of Proscecco we headed back through the crowds and enjoyed the rest of the night in our suite.

Checking out went smoothly and valet had our car waiting in front and off we went back to New Jersey to enjoy a very rainy Sunday afternoon. The hubby enjoyed his birthday surprise and we have checked off another hotel from our travel bucket list.
