Fall Home Refresh On a Budget

Hey whats going on!

It’s daylight savings time and as the saying goes “Spring ahead, fall back.” So I figured, I’ll share my fall home refresh from a few weeks ago. Now that it’s Fall we spend more time at home. My husband and I wanted to make our space comfortable for entertaining or just sitting watching movies.

If you follow me on instagram, I shared a post with pictures from my Fall Refresh and got such a great response I turned it into a blog post!

For this fall refresh you wouldn’t believe all I bought was 2 throw pillows and 1 throw blanket. I challenged myself during a random stop into my local Home Goods in Edgewater, NJ to spend $75 and that’s all! Here’s how I made it work…

Find the Inspiration

Most times before I shop for a new home refresh, I use the Pinterest app to gather photos from my inspiration. This time my inspiration came from my recent trip to Greece as I blogged about it a few months back. It consisted of natural tones, outdoor elements, woods, etc. I pulled these elements into my living room.

Gather Themed Items

Once home, I gathered candle holders, candles, older throw pillows, trays, and other small items within the theme. Most times you may already have items in your home that you can pull into your theme. I used pillows I previously purchased from my summer refresh.

Create a Blank Canvas

Next, I needed to create a blank canvas to see the vision. I removed all my summer themed pillows from the couch and articles on the coffee table. The bareness is where I see the possibilities.

Rearrange…then rearrange again

I’ll admit during the process I experienced moments of doubt, thoughts that I didn’t buy enough pillows, and even thought I had to make a second run to Home goods!

You got this Je’Mere…I grabbed a few of my summer themed pillows. I turned them around from the pink flamingo side to the white and paired them with the other pillows that I wasn’t currently using. I used the throw blanket to fill in the empty space and after several tries, I saw the vision and it worked!

Coffee Table

This is the first thing you see when you walk in so it has to set the theme. I buy fresh flowers every two weeks. I recently purchased eucalyptus and magnolia leaves from Trader Joe’s and placed them in a yellow pitcher. I sat the pitcher on my Waterworks wicker tray and filled the empty tray space with decorative balls from Home Goods and a candle I received as a birthday gift from my good friend. The wood touch on the lid worked perfectly with the theme.

Bar Cart

My husband and I picked out this Keesler bar cart from Joss and Main back in January. When I do a refresh, I always include the bar cart! Our current theme is still halloween so we used golds (it’s ok to mix metals) and orange colors. I rearranged our Champagne bottles to match the theme and added a few glasses, skeleton head and we’re all done there!

I hope these tips help with your home refresh before the coming holidays. There’s so many ways to update, change, and make your home feel cozy while staying within a budget. Feel free to leave a comment below or ask a question. You can also send me an email jemere@GoGlamGirlBlog.com.
